When the London House precinct was rebuilt by
volunteers and government grants in 2003, a community garden was
created. Located beside Cafe de Veres in Scandinavian Crescent, it is
now open to everyone to enjoy. If you're visiting Talbot,
please do stop by.
The garden contains many kinds of plants suited to local conditions
- including fruit trees, olive trees, cardoons, herbs, flowers and
natives. Despite dry
conditions, it continues to flourish
on recycled and tank water.
A cheerful group of volunteers tend the garden, meeting on the first Wednesday of each month from 8am onwards.
Children at the local kindergarten and primary school also
contribute. To find out more about the garden or how to get
involved, please contact either Helen Hazelman 5463 2217 or Max Kau
5463 2160.
